Our Story

BBQ is about both Science and Art.  To leave your mark, you need to share your art.

Born in 2012, Man Meat BBQ started from the BBQ Pitmaster craze and a desire to get back to family roots.  Childhood memories consisted of smoking a whole hog for family reunions and we wanted to be to able re-live that memory and create new ones for the next generation.  In the beginning, Aaron used his rural upbringing and resourcefulness to build an offset pit on a trailer.  Compliments from family and friends led us to see how our BBQ stacked up against others, which brought us to competition BBQ. 

Our current competition team is a family affair including husband and wife, Aaron and Christy, and their daughters Reagan, aka "Mini Meat," and Renley, aka "Barbecutie".  We have gone from a middle of the pack cooking team to one of the top nationally ranked teams since 2019.  Our success has come from becoming more consistent in our cooking process and techniques, the science, and fine tuning our flavors, the art.

We have always used rubs and sauces that we created in our kitchen.  Over years of perfecting our flavors, we finally landed on a flavor profile that catapulted us towards the top of the rankings in 2019.  In 2020, we decided to bottle our flavors.  Seven days after bringing our rub to the market, we competed in the "Best Rub on the Planet" contest where our Kansas City Style rub placed 8th overall against over 200 other top rubs.  In 2021, the entire Man Meat BBQ line of products played a very large part in helping the competition team Last Call Heroes BBQ win their first World Championship at the American Royal BBQ against over 475 of the best pitmasters in the nation.
