Lowcountry Crab Rice

This Creole-style rice dish packs so much flavor, you'll never believe it only takes 7 ingredients and 20 minutes to whip up. Serve it as a punched up rice side dish, or as a meal in itself!

Ingredients:

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 1 small red bell pepper, diced

  • 1-2 stalks celery (depending on size), diced

  • 3 Tbsp. butter

  • 1 c. rice (we use Jasmati)

  • 1 lb. lump crab meat

  • 1 Tbsp. The Real Homestyle Rub

Instructions:

  1. Rinse rice in a fine mesh strainer until water runs clear. Combine in a sauce pan with 1 1/2 c. water and a pinch of salt. Bring to boil; reduce to low simmer and cover. Continue cooking on low heat until water has evaporated, about 15 minutes.

  2. While the rice cooks, melt butter over medium-low heat until melted. Add celery, pepper and onion. Cook, stirring frequently, until vegetables are tender and onions are translucent; about 6 minutes.

  3. Add crab meat and continue to cook for 5 to 10 minutes, until crab meat begins to crisp slightly.

  4. Add the cooked rice and Homestyle. Stir to combine. Adjust seasoning to taste and serve it up!
