Sweet Potato Hash

This hearty one pan wonder is family-friendly and ready in under 30 minutes.


  • 1 lb. ground meat (turkey, beef or pork)

  • 2 large sweet potatoes, diced

  • 1 medium onion, diced

  • 1 red bell pepper, diced (or 4-5 tinkerbell peppers, sliced into rings)

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 c. chicken stock

  • 1/4 c. The Real Tangy Tennessee sauce

  • 1 Tbsp. The Real Texas Style rub

  • 1 Tbsp. cumin

  • 2 tsp. The Real Homestyle rub

  • 1 c. shredded mozzarella cheese

  • Cilantro (optional)

  • Juice of 1 lime (optional)


  1. Using a high-sided saucepan, drizzle olive oil and add garlic. Cook over medium heat about 1 minute or until fragrant. Add ground meat and brown until cooked through (approx. 7-8 minutes), using a spatula* to break up.

  2. Add onion, pepper, Texas Style, Homestyle, cumin and Tangy Tennessee and cook 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently.

  3. Add sweet potatoes and chicken stock. Cover and cook, stirring frequently, until most of the liquid has absorbed and potatoes are tender (approx. 10-12 minutes).

  4. Remove from heat and top with mozzarella. Return cover and let stand until cheese is fully melted.

  5. Top with cilantro and a squeeze of lime juice and serve.
